Join us for a special guided visit of the
Hôtel Lauzun
The Hôtel de Lauzun on the quai d'Anjou, Ile St. Louis Paris, is the rival of the Hotel Lambert among the few hotels particuliers that retain their rich carved, painted, mirrored and gilded interiors from the time of Louis XIV.
The mansion is a 17th century interior and exterior architectural jewel. It is the only private mansion on Ile St Louis that can be visited. It has been recently restored while being preserved as its last private owner left it at the end of the 19th century, with the gold detailing and ceilings of the 17th century, combined with the exuberance of the 19th century. It has become a kind of Villa Medicis for researchers from around the world. There, you will encounter the Duke of Lauzun and his escapades, the nieces of the Cardinal de Mazarin, and also Baudelaire and the club of hashishins. It is an exceptional opportunity to visit a mansion that was a famous residence.
The visit will be given in English, and will include a tour of the exterior as well.
The event timing should allow time after the visit to have a hot chocolate or a glass of wine in a nearby café. (We will organize the location, drinks not included with the price of the visit)
