    Turkish Ambassador to France Hakkï Akil spoke to about 30 members and guests about Turkey's position in history and where he sees its path towards the future.  His observations and anecdotes were both amusing and thought provoking.  Given the turbulence in the region, it was an interesting discussion for all.

    On April 14th, 20 privileged American Club members were given a guided tour of the Mellerio archives.  We were fortunate enough to see rare antique jewels dating from Marie Antoinette's time.  And what fun, we even were allowed to try on pieces from the current collection of "haute joaillerie". The visit was followed by a light Champagne lunch. It was truly an exceptional event.

    We had the pleasure of listening to French writer and political journalist, Eric Zemmour's views on current events.   His unconventional views (often said to be anti-liberal and radical), as well as the numerous controversies he has been involved in, are notorious in France. So it was a lively conversation to say the least.

    Gagosian Gallery Co-Director Jean-Olivier Desprès gave members and their spouses a brief lecture about the renowned gallery before allowing us an "up close and personal " visit of recent works of American artist Richard Serra.  The champagne was free-flowing to the delight of our members.

    The American Club of Paris held a special New Year's Happy Hour cocktail on Wednesday, January 21st, 2015 at Reid Hall.  About thirty members and several prospective members joined us in celebrating the start of 2015. Guests were entertained by live jazz music while enjoying wine, champagne, and delicious catered hors d'oeuvres.

    The American Club of Paris hosted its annual Holiday Oyster & Foie-Gras Tasting Party at Reid Hall on Monday, December 8th.  25 members, prospective members and guests partook in the festive fare with foie-gras supplied by Le Manoir Alexandre and oysters supplied by Hutires et Saumon de Passy.  In addition to the oysters and foie-gras, the party-goers enjoyed delicious champagne and white wine.

    The American Club of Paris hosted its annual Gala Thanksgiving Dinner at the beautiful Salon des Arts et Métiers on Friday, November 28th.  Fifty members, prospective members, and guests joined us in celebrating this traditional American Club of Paris event.  The gorgeous nineteenth-century building and exquisite black-tie attire made for an elegant evening in which guests enjoyed a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner followed by an open bar.
