is thrilled to invite you to an exclusive members-only private guided tour (in English) of
Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel
Fashion Manifesto
After 2 years of extensive renovations, the Palais Galliera opens its doors with the eagerly anticipated retrospective of the undoubtedly most remarkable and influential (female) fashion designer of all times: Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel (1883-1971). This singular exhibition – Gabrielle Chanel, Fashion Manifesto – the first-ever retrospective dedicated to the great couturière held in Paris, critically examines her career, the emergence and development of her distinct style, the unique characteristics of her craftsmanship and her vast contribution to the history of fashion. Supported by and organized in collaboration with the fashion house Chanel itself, the exhibition brings together an exceptional selection of more than 350 iconic pieces, carefully arranged into 10 distinct "chapters", each headlined by a distinct photographic portrait of Coco herself, bringing to life a style that has forever revolutionized fashion and women’s allure. The first part of the retrospective presents, in chronological order, the iconic pieces created by Gabrielle Chanel that have shaped the contours of modern femininity: from the famous marinière jacket of 1916 to the sophisticated dresses of the 1930s. And while an entire room is dedicated to the most recognized perfume of the world - Chanel N°5 - created in 1921, the second part of the exhibition focuses on Chanel's unique codes: the emblematic tweed suit, two-tone pumps, the 2.55 quilted bag, the use of black and beige, and, of course, the costume and the fine jewelry that were and continue to be intrinsic to the Chanel signature. Don't miss this opportunity for a private tour (in English) and viewing of the exceptional selection of pieces on loan from museums and collections from around the world, coming together as a complete manifesto of the vision and values of the timeless Gabrielle Chanel, who has undeniably and forever left her mark on French history, far beyond fashion.
