In a candid and thought-provoking conversation with his former colleague and one of the Club's Executive Committee Members, Robert Paley, Dr. Horsch will talk about Innovation, Equity and Philantropy, the guiding principles for his 12 year tenure at the world's largest private foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Join us as Dr. Horsch shares his views on the impact of the world's population growth rate, food shortages, and how world leaders are addressing these pressing issues. Listen in as Dr. Horsch outlines the Gates Foundation's goals and objectives, to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty across the globe, while discussing the foundation's project selection and funding processes. Having a leadership position in their Global Growth and Opportunity division and more specifically its Agricultural R&D program, Dr. Horsch will address the principal scientific focus areas the foundation has identified regarding food production.

Dr. Robert Horsch spent his entire career as an agricultural research and development specialist discovering, developing and deploying agricultural innovations that improve the welfare of farmers and consumers while protecting the environment and supporting broad, equitable economic growth and poverty reduction.
His career has included building a billion-dollar portfolio of grants at the Gates Foundation and leading Monsanto’s plant tissue culture and transformation efforts that led to improved crops grown by millions of farmers around the world.
He received the National Medal of Technology from President Clinton, was appointed to the United Nations Millennium Project Task Force on Hunger, served as an advisor to the U.S. National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as on numerous boards of scientific and advocacy organizations.
