invites you to a private guided tour (in English) of
"Shocking ! Les mondes surréalistes d’Elsa Schiaparelli”
Italian Couturière (1890 - 1973)
Nearly 20 years since the last retrospective devoted to Italian Couturière extraordinaire Elsa Schiaparelli, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs revisits this unique designer’s work in a multifaceted exposition bringing together an astounding 577 works including 212 so called "silhouettes" and accessories by Schiaparelli herself.
Recognized and appreciated for her innovative sense of feminine style, her sophisticated, often eccentric designs, and the undeniable thrill that she brought to the world of fashion, Elsa Schiaparelli drew much of her inspiration from her close ties to the Parisian avant-garde of the 1920's and 30's.
The retrospective, a highlight of MAD's 2022/2023 exhibition calendar, includes iconic numerous paintings, sculptures, jewellery, ceramics, and photographs by some of the artist's dearest friends including Man Ray, Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, Meret Oppenheim and Elsa Triolet. The exhibition also showcases creations designed in honor of Schiaparelli by such fashion icons as Yves Saint Laurent, Azzedine Alaïa, John Galliano and Christian Lacroix.
Join us for this private, guided tour of a meticulously curated exhibition devoted to an extraordinary designer and several of the era's most prominent artists and designers!
