is pleased to invite you to a luncheon with guest of honor
Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir
Director, OECD Development Centre
In a time of major geopolitical shifts and global instability, OECD countries need new strategies. They need to draw more value from their foreign aid efforts and find new ways to engage with their partner countries around the world. OECD countries alone cannot solve global issues such as a recovery from the pandemic, the development of wide-ranging economic opportunities or the addressing of the climate crisis. We need safe spaces for policy dialogue, where ideas and shared solutions can emerge.
The OECD Development Centre provides the space for such dialogue. Established on the initiative of John F. Kennedy in 1962, the Centre is open to both OECD and non-OECD countries. Its 53 members work together on an equal footing to share experiences, promote sustainable development and decide on the Centre’s work programme.
Join us as Ragnheiður Árnadóttir, Director of the OECD Development Centre, shares the experiences of the Centre and her perspective on key global challenges such as climate change, the promotion of gender equality and the impact of the Ukraine war in developing countries.
Ms. Árnadóttir was an elected Member of Parliament for the Independence Party from 2007-2016 and served as Minister of Industry and Commerce in Iceland from 2013-2017.
Before being elected to Parliament, she was a political advisor to the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister. She also worked for the Trade Council of Iceland both in New York and in Reykjavík. A nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Centre, Ms. Árnadóttir was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Duty Free Iceland, and a member of the Board of Directors of Landsvirkjun, a national power company.
Ms. Árnadóttir has a Master’s Degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Sciences from the University of Iceland.
