After nearly a decade of renovations, BnF Richelieu – THE historical birthplace of the Bibliothèque nationale de France – finally reopened last September. Originally built in the 17th century as a palace for Cardinal Mazarin, it later housed the libraries of several French Kings.
Illuminating the historical layers of the building while breathing modernity into a site whose stones are steeped in centuries' worth of history, Richelieu today boasts an exceptional collection of encyclopaedic treasures and so-called 'specialist' collections – manuscripts, drawings, engravings, photographs, maps and plans, coins and medals, antiques and jewellery ... amounting to more than 20 million documents.
Join us for this exclusive private guided tour and let yourself be carried away as we explore this site of truly outstanding heritage – from the Labrouste Hall to the emblematic and majestic Oval Room and the BnF's new museum - this is a visit you won't want to miss!
